Song view

The first thing you see when you unbox your M8 and turn it on

Here, you can see the song grid, where the columns represent channels, and the rows represent steps. Each cell contains either a chain number or -- if it’s empty.

Interestingly, there are eight independent playback heads, and none of them can cross over an empty cell. If a playback head encounters an empty cell, it will jump back to the beginning of the current continuous, non-empty “island”.

Therefore, if you want to create a pause in a channel or have it start playing later, you’ll need to insert a blank chain.
